First time authors and friends Karl Wayne Gruber and John Francis Carroll developed the concept of "The Book of I am..." and characters in 1995 one night after writing a birthday poem for a friend’s child. They wanted to convey observations of everyday things through the eyes and imagination of two insect friends, Karl Bugg and Johnny Grasshopper, who like to play guessing games through poetic riddles. Children can guess from these riddles and just maybe will look at these things a little differently afterwards too.
